teaching + workshops

Kristin and her husband, Chris, both hold MFAs in Fine Art and met 21 years ago, teaching at Skagit Valley College. Both are still adjunct art faculty members there today – Kristin teaching drawing &/or painting and Chris teaching beginning and advanced ceramics, drawing, & 3D Design.

In addition to teaching classes at the college level, both Kristin & Chris have taught various workshops to a variety of students, visited grade school classrooms, and worked one on one with students.

Summer ART sessions

We are always open to group art sessions. Art sessions vary from screen printing, printmaking, drawing, painting, hand building with clay, whirligig making, or collage.

Group Bookings (2 hour sessions):
2 people - $112 ($56 a person)
3 people - $150 ($50 a person)
4 people - $175 ($43 a person)

*Art Parties are available to people ages 10 years old & up - minimum $150.

Painting & Collage - July 22nd or 23rd
Ages 10-16
In this 2-hour art workshop, kids will have an opportunity to learn some painting techniques & use collage materials to create a one of a kind masterpiece. Classes are small - 2 person instruction (4 kids max). Material fee included.

$40 + $10 material fee = $50

Clay Heads- July 24th or 25th
Ages 10-16
In this 2 -hour clay workshop, kids will have the opportunity to sculpt & paint a fun character or self-portrait in a small group with lots of individual attention - 2 person instruction (4 kids max). Kiln firing & material fee included.

Block Printing - August 19th or 20th
Ages 10-16
In this 2-hour workshop, kids will have the opportunity to draw, carve & print with a linoleum block in a small group setting with lots of individual attention- 2 person instruction (4 kids max).

Whirligig Making - August 21st or 22nd
Ages 10-16 (must be able to handle a glue gun)
Art meets engineering in this 2-hour workshop. Kids will have the opportunity to recycle & repurpose items to create fun & kinetic sculptures that spin in the wind, in a small group setting with lots of individual attention. (2-person instruction & 4 kids max). The plastic recyclables you bring with you will be the stuff that will become your sculpture. After sculptures are assembled, they will be decorated with paint.

Family Art Night
$125/ 2 hour sessions
2 adults & 2 kids
Spend a fun & creative time with your family making art & memories in a nurturing, relaxed environment. Choose your favorite medium: clay, printmaking, painting/drawing, collage, & whirligig making

Maker Date Nights
7pm- 9pm

If you and your mate are looking for a creative way to spend some time together, Maker Date Night is for you. Chose from working with clay, printmaking, or drawing & painting together. We’ll provide a nurturing environment to create, expertise in chosen medium, materials, music (of your choice) & wine or beer.

This is an opportunity to work in a casual, supervised, creative work environment. Studio “art play” includes access to clay, collage materials, painting, drawing, & printing ages 7-16.
$30 per session - includes supply, equipment, & supervision/artistic advice from 2 artists (Chris & Kristin Theiss).
A punch card will be available for purchase.
